Province & destination collection
Granite peaks, ancient villages and Huizhou heritage centered on the Huangshan area.
City & place hubs
This Anhui collection currently offers 1 destination card, Huangshan, covering the Yellow Mountains and the surrounding Huizhou area. Treat that single gateway as a choice between mountain scenery, village architecture and a town base, rather than a directory of the whole province. A mountain photograph and an old village lane can belong to the same journey, but they need different accommodation and transport decisions.
For a short 2–3-day visit, decide whether the mountain or the villages deserve your longest day. Travellers comfortable with sustained steps can allocate a full mountain outing; a gentler stay can give more time to traditional streets and a shorter permitted viewpoint circuit. With 4–5 days, separate the upland outing from village excursions and leave space for arrival at the actual railway station. Staying in Tunxi and sleeping on the mountain produce different morning plans. If the villages are your priority, compare a return to the same town hotel with a village overnight; the second may improve quiet walking time but needs a practical luggage plan.
Spring and autumn are useful starting points for comparing walking conditions, while summer rain and winter ice can change the experience sharply. A cableway reduces part of the ascent but does not remove all steps between viewpoints. Check the chosen cableway, entry booking and the last descent before committing to a mountain hotel. Reserve room for a weather change instead of promising sunrise on a particular morning; mist can be beautiful without revealing the distant peaks.
The Huangshan attraction index separates the mountain from individual heritage stops, while Huangshan tours show combinations that give each setting its own day. For a broader trip through nearby provinces, use East China. Choose Anhui when granite landscapes or Huizhou buildings are a central interest, then add neighbouring cities only after the local nights and transfer route make sense.
The Huangshan card is the only provincial gateway included in this collection, so it cannot compare every Anhui city or countryside stop. Use the linked attraction pages to distinguish a mountain trail from a village visit before choosing accommodation. If your interest lies outside the Huangshan and Huizhou chapter, include that place by name in your enquiry. A route should explain where that additional stop fits and how you will reach it; the absence of a card is not a reason to substitute a different experience.
