With 4–5 days, choose one regional extension whose transfer genuinely fits the available nights. Wuyi Mountain appears among the wider attraction material, but it should be considered a separate travel chapter rather than an afternoon near the harbour. An island-focused day works better when you choose the museums and garden paths before buying the return ferry, leaving time for lunch and the walk back to boarding.

Mild-weather city walking and a summer seaside visit have different priorities. Heat, heavy rain and coastal storm disruption can affect how comfortably you use the island paths or reach a ferry. Confirm the correct passenger terminal, sailing and required identity details before arranging the transfer. A ticket to cross the water does not automatically include every museum or garden on Gulangyu. Check individual closing times and leave enough margin for the return journey after the last planned indoor visit.
