City & place hubs
The 1 destination card here leads to the Beijing city guide. Its role is to introduce the municipality as a base for imperial buildings, neighbourhood life, museums and Great Wall excursions. The administrative boundary is much wider than central Beijing, so a place described as being in the municipality may still take a substantial journey from your hotel. Use the card to establish a base before choosing individual visits.
With 2–3 days, keep the central sights in a manageable sequence and select one major reservation as the anchor of each day. A 4–5-day stay gives more room for a separate Wall outing and slower time in the hutongs. Courtyards and palace grounds can involve long distances on foot even when the map shows a compact area. For a group needing regular breaks, shorten the number of complexes and agree where a vehicle can legally meet you after the walk. Families may prefer to leave the evening after a long palace or Wall day free for a meal near the hotel.
Compare spring and autumn for outdoor days; summer heat and winter wind change how long you may want to remain on exposed paths. Major museums and palace visits require attention to the current booking process, passport details and weekly closure notices. Do not put a fixed train departure immediately after a large timed visit. Wall entrances also differ: a cableway booking for one section cannot be used to simplify a walk at another section.
Open Beijing attractions for individual landmarks and practical facts. If the main question is which Wall section suits your group, the Great Wall Corridor is the more focused starting point. The North China collection helps place Beijing beside Tianjin and the wider corridor. This municipality page is most useful for choosing the city chapter before expanding the journey beyond it.
