Choosing this experience
The four-day Chongqing and Dazu plan pairs the city with rock-carving heritage; the five-day Chongqing and Wulong plan instead gives karst scenery a place in the journey. Read those as two different reasons to travel beyond Chongqing, not simply a shorter and longer version of one holiday.
A traveller drawn to Dazu needs time to interpret the carvings, while a Wulong brief needs a discussion about the walking and the landscape outing. Keep the selected excursion clear when requesting changes so a city night or an additional transfer does not quietly replace the experience that motivated the booking.

How to use this page
This collection contains 2 multi-day Chongqing itineraries: the 4-day Chongqing and Dazu Heritage Tour and the 5-day Chongqing and Wulong Karst Tour. Both use Chongqing as the city chapter, then develop a different reason to travel beyond it. The first centres on historical interpretation and rock carvings; the second gives more space to karst scenery and a landscape excursion. Read their day sequences and travel assumptions before comparing the headline duration.
Choose the 4-day outline when carved religious art, historical explanation and a coherent city-and-heritage route lead the trip. The 5-day option suits travellers who want the city to introduce a separate mountain-landscape chapter. The extra day is useful only if it supports the actual transfer, park route and recovery time your group needs; it does not automatically make one itinerary more complete. If your stay is only 1–2 days, begin with the Chongqing city guide and identify a compact local sequence before trying to compress either longer route.
Check effort at the level of each day. Dazu needs enough unhurried time at the carvings for interpretation, while Wulong can involve park transport, steps and a route chosen around the group’s walking capacity. City sightseeing also changes elevation between upper streets and river level. Ask which sections use stairs, where rests are possible and whether the meeting point is on the upper road or by the river. In hot or wet conditions, keep the outdoor chapter flexible; mountain access and transport can change with weather, and an apparently short activity should not hide the journey surrounding it.
Before fixing dates, confirm the named attraction’s booking arrangements, the actual entrance and any museum or interior closure day. For a cableway crossing or evening city stop, separate the sightseeing suggestion from an operator’s confirmed session. Leave arrival, meals and the return transfer visible in the itinerary instead of filling every available hour with another landmark. The Chongqing attraction index supports a closer comparison of the city experiences, while the Dazu guide and Wulong guide explain the two excursion choices. Use those pages to refine the route that already matches your interests and pace.
